About 5mm apparently. I only really need 1 for a spare or at a pinch a 2nd one to replace the most worn of my set of tyres.

they last for ages, should see a good 10k outta that 5mm

Today:
Finding bits of rust, brush it, give some KURUST, brush and then apply rust stopper prime and then spray the rock sliders and leave the rest till I get a can of landrover green...
Also did a patch job with duck tape on the rear wheel archs to stop water coming until I get it replaced...

Made me own camshaft sprocket locking tool - a length of 1" x 3mm steel filed to a slight taper and gently tapped into place.



Changed the cam belt and tensioner and spent fookin ages gettin the timing cover clean inside and out.



Fitted the new water pump, then got fed up - will finish up tomorra.

I had a day off work, so I took my engine out.

I took me dash out and wired up the light in the Voltmeter & got the Voltmeter to work as it int since I put it all back together, Went for a drive in it and the speedo has stopped working. Bastid cable must have come out.

Got a phone call off a mate "the truck won't start I was welding the chassis yesterday and now it won't start?!" It's not a fooking truck it's a Disco I told him, "No it's a truck A transit tipper actually I've just bought one for work!" :doh: went down & took me elctrickery tools with me. 2 flat batteries cos the main starting battery wasn't getting charged up by the alternator? fitted a proper battery cable across the live connections on both Batteries and ditch the speaker wire (well Almost) the previous owner had been using to connect em together and everything was sorted, then tidied all the other bits and bobs of wiring out and fixed his stereo for him.

Chopped an old spare wheel cover down to make it fit the wheel of my spare (it was too small to go over my spare wheel) and cheveroned it up with reflective tape. Just got to make the straps up so it can be fitted to or removed from my spare wheel in a couple of mins.

Just small wee jobs today - bolted my cubby box in, fitted the jack across the rear-seat box and fitted the fake front:

looks ok nice job i would of used sspeaker carpet tho as it would of bended round the corners better

I got those carpet tiles for pennies hence using em, but they are fairly rigid, and a bit of a bugger when you try to stick 'em to the metal. Stuck a wee bit better on the fake wood front but your right, the corner does stick out a bit as it looks crap. Will have to tidy it up I think.

Alas too late to change to speaker carpet now as lots of the inside is already done in this carpet. Noted for next project!

Various bits of fettling, oiled door hinges, lock handle mechanisms, moving parts on cables etc etc. Only meant to spend 10 minutes, but came in after two and a bit hours. Didn't really do anything much, but did lots of little niggly things, if you see what I mean !!

Fitted a G4 roof rack, and very smart it looks too..

Got it all back together, after changing the cam-belt and fitting a new water pump.
Turned it over on the starter a few times (with the stop solenoid disconnected) just to make sure there were no orrible noises.
Then, with sweaty palms, re-connected the stop solenoid and touched the key...........

Varrrroooooooommmmmmm!
Purrs like a kitten.
Good feeling that!

Let it tick over with the expansion cap off, till it got up to normal temperature. Topped up the coolant again and took it for a test drive.

Ah got tore intae the wirin' loom again... whilst havin' a few beers and mnaged tae get the loom out...eventually!!.. after markin' off more connectors..



Had a weird thought though! Just checked the green bus' loom for some strange reason and noticed there's a lot less wires on that compared tae the white bus...





.. but then realised that the white 'un has a rear wiper motor and heated screen.. Bloody Stella!!!!!

fitted new rubber gearbox mounts , still vibrates so going to call it character

Fitted front output bearing in transfer box, new cv joint and drive flange, drives nice now .

Thought about cleaning it, didn't.

Scoured the underside for any sign of damage as I'm still paranoid. None!
