Replaced the rear transfer box seal
Fitted some oil-free handbrake shoes (thanks to MHM for the advice)
Dug moss out from under the headlights
Washed, cut and waxed the bonnet paint
Parked it on a slope and enjoyed the sensation of staying put

Got the replacement bearing into the AC of the 300tdi, had to add a copper washer to stop the cover plate fouling the rotor, very odd as there wasn't one there when i took it apart and it didn't foul then. I put off sorting out the leak on the PAS pipes because after having a much better look maybe the leak is on the auto box oil cooler pipes, its hard to tell where its coming from, not so much a leak more of a slow seepage from somewhere which ends up as a drip.

Put a new lift pump & filter in the 200 tdi, tracked down the weird squealing noise when accelerating to a knackered front prop yoke.

topped up gearbox as it had stopped leaking

cured annoying rattle on tickover. Bonnet prop rattling on air filter housing and on bonnet bracket :(

reattached the foam insulation to the roof and started gluing the Carpet/soundproofing to the wheel boxes.

trial fited the noo curtains in the back What Minty has just made up..

Help folks

Do the bolts in the top of the bumper just screw into the chassis or are there some nuts somewhere which you need to hold. I cant find the other end of the bolt, do I just need a big bar on the socket to unscrew them

Thank you

Sue on a Defender there is a Nut plate that has a clip that clips in. I usually change these at the same time as the bolts because they do rust. and sometimes seize. So the nut plate should be there however if you have trouble it may have moved out of position or its rusted and needs changing
