What have you done to your Freelander today

got round to doing the vcu torque test and depressingly found that using a 5kg weight it took a very steady 50+ seconds - looks like I know what I will be asking santa for this christmas.
Also tried fitting some 7 x 16 alloys that I found on ebay. They are standard equipment LR alloys with the correct 114.3 pcd but the bolt holes are a lot bigger than my alloys, so I will need some different wheel studs and spacers.
They must be off quite an early freelander, they have 5 spokes and a similar pattern to early 15" alloys - does anyone have a clue which model they might have come from? I will try and upload a photo of them if I can find a camera phone that works!
Not the most productive afternoons work.

fitted front fog lights today but got rained off before I could get them finished and get the car back together found a couple of wires behind the bumper when i took it of I was hoping they were for the fog lights but no such luck so im not sure what there for (maybe fbh)I dunno anyway I ve wired the fog lights to come on with the main beam as I was struggling to get a wire through the bulk head to the fog light switch
if anyone know what the wires in the pictures are for please let me know if you would cheers a few pic included if the link works

Went green laning again in the Peaks, drove just short of 70 miles, bid farewell to my mates in their Disco and Jeep, drove another 100yds down a rough track and then had to stop and investigate a scraping from the back end.
Lo and behold the bloody exhaust had decided to part company with it's rubbers again, so this time couldn't be arsed to fix it, and slung it in the boot for the last 7 miles of drive home :D
I'll get it sorted tomorrow after work :D

Nice job ;)

New front shockers, springs and new plastic bits, new central VCU bearings and got five new Avon tyres fitted. It now is noise free probably because of the tyres.

I love my Freelander again.

Put 4 new tyres on it today. Quoted £700 for 4 x Michelin Lattitude Tour HP so it's got 4 Chinese budget winter tyres instead. They were £440. 225x55x17 seem expensive.

Would be interesting to see how you get on with the Chinky winter tyres over, the , er, winter. Please report back later! Which ones did you get?

I fitted a metal phone holder mount from eBay. It uses the two L/H screws behind the heater dials.
Since the lights for the heater controls haven't worked since I've had the car I decided to investigate.
Having removed the stereo & cage I then realised the bulbs can be removed from the front!
Everything is easier when you know how!

Yes it will......

They that world famous brand - JINYU !!! 225/55/17 YW52 97H. They appear to have a decent tread pattern. Time will tell how they wear / perform. Felt fine today in the wet and cornering. I look forward to the snow then I can report back.

Inspected it for damage after an old granny reversed into me! Pulled past and started reversing into a parking bay at the mall - checked my left mirror (her side) and plenty of space, right mirror, left mirror again and I'm too close! Stopped, wondering why it all went wrong to realise she was reversing out straight into me...

Luckily it was bumper to bumper at slow speed and I don't think there's any damage, will check again in the morning.

opened the bonnet to find a very pretty silvery mist all over the o/s of the engine...just like someone had sprayed silver christmas paint all over..:)..BUT...unfortunately it was metal filings from a failed belt tensioner pulley bearing!!just ordered a new one from rimmers...should be here christmas eve im told.
