What have you done to your Freelander today

Mine returned today, injector fixed and running like a dream - for now, and then waved the rally Freelander goodbye on the same recovery truck. Nothing serious, just MOT and a little fettling.

Sounds like we're going through a similar process.

Having changed the drop links and track rod ends I'm now noticing other 'clunks' when on rough ground. I'm guessing that the new, stiffer, joints are showing up the wear elsewhere. With that in mind I'm probably going to change the wishbones. Anyway - whilst looking I noticed the Lemförder wishbones are something like 3 times the price of anything else out there. So, are they really that much better?
 
I used the Freelander for work today as the Vivaro is still sulking on the driveway with a fuel problem.
Have been pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to work from. Nice high boot so no stooping to get tools out, swallows a lot of equipment too including a shower tray, 9 square meters of tiles, 4 tubs of tile adhesive, all my tools and most importantly 2 thermos flasks of coffee!

I chuck our welding gear in mine when we go on site, 2 welders, generator, grinders, other tools etc depending on what we're actually doing...plenty of space to spare too! Can actually get 3m lengths of material inside the car too, which is nice
 
Tomorrow shall be the real test. I have to get a large shower profile & screens into the Freelander.
Think it might be a window down, heater up full kinda job!
 
Changed the oul in the ird to lazy to take the under tray off so made a tray to catch the oil ended up stood under the ramp wearing most of the stinky ****. The joys of motoring!!

I dont know why. But that sounded like a jinx :D;) You should be careful. That sounded risky. But then again you can get a heated windshield if you dont have it :)

Im not really the right person to say stuff like this anyway. Delivering 9 pieces of 6m cable conduit pipes(right word? the ones you bury in the ground with high voltage electrical cables in it) on my roof rack not so long ago.
 
i thought that was what the rear window was supposed to open for?? I've had allsorts poking out of mine when the freelander ends up a bit short!
 
Ordered all the bolts and the gasket for my forthcoming how to change a k series oil pump fred :(

in the search for the source of a minor oil leak, i made it worse by snapping one oil pump bolt :(

still could be worse, i suppose :)
 
Coming home from shopping yesterday afternoon, realised the tailgate window was not shutting correctly, and instead of sliding up behind the roof, was actually hitting it and stopping.
Upon investigation I found that the glass was kinda loose, waggling backwards and forwards.
Today I have completely stripped out the tailgate window, motor and runners, to find that the aluminium clamps that hold the window have two small white plastic U shaped clips that it actually runs on, and one off each side had fallen out and were laid in the bottom of the door.
5 minutes of gentle persuasion had the clips back in place, but while everything was accessible I have spray greased the runners, copper slipped the bolts, contact cleaned the motor plug and refitted everything.
The rubbish foam membrane was replaced with a 120 litre heavy duty bin bag (which happened to be just the right size with the bottom cut off and then opened flat so it was actually double skinned!) and considerably more gaffer tape than was probably necessary :)

All in all a productive day :)
