I've had that signature for a while, but yes I should update it, although my FL2 is an SE and maybe my avatar needs updating too.

It's no good trying to tempt me with all of these FreeLanders for sale if they aren't even automatics!

Both the V6 and Nodge's TD4 are autos.

Hmmm... I thought Nodge said his was a manual. How much is your V6 looking at?

My FL1 Facelift FL1 SE is an automatic, but the box currently misbehaving.

I'm going to let it go cheap, for what it is.

My new to me FL2 SE (confusing ain't it ) is a manual.

Yes. It's me.

Julian and I have been Youtube friends for a couple of years. We share thoughts and ideas on occasion, and I currently sell my version of his PWM5 in kit form, with his permission of course.

Swapped the turbo out for a Rover 25 turbo I had knocking around. Old one was starting to show signs of letting oil into the inlet manifold.
Started to take off the vacuum pump which has been leaking oil for years. Finally going to fix it, quite surprised the alternator is still working with the amount of oil in it but at least it won't have corrosion issues.
Finding the oil feed pipe to the vacuum pump is a bit tricky to get off. Got some penetrating oil in there now and I'll try again later. Might end up cutting things and replacing the pipe, there is some signs of silicone around the thread so it might have been bodged up previously.

The limited access around the turbo should have kept things interesting for you. It isn't as bad as some other cars, though.

How does the oil get from the vacuum pump at the rear of the engine to the alternator at the front??

Replaced rear short brake pipes before mot. Figured there would be some problems so figured I'd replace everything from the vehicle metal pipe to and including the wheel cylinder.

Wheel cylinder bolts seized, brake Union on car seized, brake hose rusted to car brackets!!! A one hour job took five, but nice new pipes and flexis and wheel cylinders.
Sometimes budget a whole day and you'll be pleased it only took five hours!!

Thing is, if I'd taken it to a garage and they charged five hours labour I'd feel ripped off!! Vehicles of this age are only economical to keep on road if you do the work yourself.

A power file sander is great for taking the head off wheel cylinder bolts. Nothing else I could find would fit in the gap.
