Yes. My current TD4 auto is my 5th Freelander. My previous V6 was nicer to drive and more reliable, once I'd changed the engine. I'm an auto all the way person though. I can't be doing with clutch changes these days.
 
Whilst giving my TD4 55 plate 3 door 'Adventurer' its first Spring clean, decided to remove the two rear hinged windows and seals in order to de-gunge all the green stuff that grows in the area that can't normally be reached. I was surprised to find a bit of surface 'bubbling' along the seam between the outer and inner panels which is normally covered by the window seal. I've smeared petroleum jelly along the seam and glycerine into the seals before replacing the windows. I think my next plan will be get some rust-remedy and do a full repair.
 
Been getting the accessories ready for my first Landie "Expedition" next weekend up to support the folk affected by the Kaikoura Quake. First job pumped up a couple of airbeds so make sure 1 still holds air then to familiarise myself with the tent - 11 minutes to put up and 8 to take down - shouldn't get to wet if its raining :)

I'm out tomorrow to get myself a CB and a dashcam, so have been seeing where I can take feeds and route cables etc. Its great when you can pull the parts car to pieces to see if things will work and judge you'll be happy with them. Its also great when you have a resource like LZ to search for advice and see how others have done things. Happy MHM? Shame there's nothing on here about how the VCU works or how to test it :)

Washed it, took the radio out and gave it a going over, put it back, looks a bit cleaner and the mechanism is quieter. By the way, who's idea was it to hold the head unit in with 2 Allen screws, had me pondering how to get it out for a while.
Nearly got enough money together to rebuild the rear suspension and sundry bits and pieces. It's not broke, but it is very tired, as it's still running on its original shocks and bushes etc.

After more than a week browsing the web and going to shops looking at my options for a CB Radio, I concluded that my wife's finances would only stretch to a puney 1W hand held device at $80. If put an extra big smile on mine and her face Mrs Grumpy finances might stretch to a 2W hand held at about $100. A good 5W hand held with external mic, car charging and external antenna was way to much for me as well as Mrs Grumpy.

So today, I was all set to take on said shops and see if I could get myself an in car unit (they all appear to be 5W) and antenna for as near to $200 as possible - I'd be looking to knock $50 of their pricing and steer clear of Mrs Grumpy for a long time.

One last check on the internet before heading out and struck gold :)

A 6 month old 5W handheld unit with external mic and car charging for $130. Snapped the guy's arm off :)

I won't have an external antenna for next week, but well happy with what I got. The charging base has interchangeable domestic plug and cigar lighter wiring and forms a great base for it in the car. The mic cord extends easily to the driver - but it topples the base over - so will need to do something to stop that happening. No special wiring needed, but in time I'll wire up a socket of some kind near the clock that I can plug it into and will run an external antenna.

Its an 80 Channel UHF jobbie transmitting on public 477mhz used here - has all the VOX, Duplex, CTCSS, DCS etc stuff that I'll probably never use :)

Flicked both switches down and cranked it up to 10 (bit disappointed it didn't go to 11) and gave it a test drive.
Pickup is sooo much better and now he feels lively. Before he felt a bit sluggish which I was putting down to a cheapo ebay MAF and over sized wheels.
Now it's daylight I'll do some more testing and turn it back if I'm getting too much smoke but it's really nice to be able to add so much performance for only a hundred quid.
Best bit is I could sell it on tomorrow for the same money if I chose to. ;)

Been driving about today and still on setting 10. I'm not seeing any smoke so don't see any point in turning it down, I've cable tied all the wiring and also used cable ties to secure the Ronbox in between the fuse box and bulkhead.
So far very happy with it.

Mine is fitted in the same location. I am thinking of moving it onto the E box at some point. I've noticed it gets dripped on in its current location.
Mine is set on 9 or 10 with MAF compensation off. I do get a blast of black if I open the taps fully, after a period of pottering about. I put this down to soot that has built up in the pipes, getting ejected with increased exhaust flow. I has found that my 2K misfire has vanished with the MAF compensation off. With it on, the 2K misfire is very evident.

I believe my Ronbox is around 5 years old so the MAF is probably the same age. I don't know if this is relevant or not. Do you think it would be less efficient because of the age therefore giving no discernable smoke? It is definitely more lively but hardly earth shattering.

If you are using the Peirburg MAF then the MAF compensation must be on.
I'm using a cheap EBay MAF, so I have set my MAF compensation to off.

Today I finally got round to fitting my LED bar. I'm not happy with the position, so I'm going to adjust it when I get a chance.

Mine goes like Sh1t off a greased shovel, and it's only on setting 1 without the MAF bit plugged in.
So I'd get cleaning or replacing your sensors. On setting 10, it should go like a space shuttle.
