Most important check ....
There should be four round things, I think they're called wheels, one on each corner, all generally pointing in the same direction.

It did and they do.............so without further ado , we got it......Me Pa now owns a working D1 , a knackered D1 and a new to him D2....Dang it , he now has more Landies than me, I may have to get another one to balance things up.

Issues are it needs a service, all oils and filters. A new MAF and injector loom.

Otherwise it appears to be quite nice.

Are you MAD, If I do that, then I will have a 90, D2 and a D1 in front of my house , but then D1 will require welding..............Oh maybe this is a cunning plan on me Fathers part to get it welded........Darn he is a crafty old git.

Been a while since ive been on
What have I done this week
Stripped off lights, grill, front bumper, wings on my D1 V8.
very surprised to see how good condition the front end is in after 120000 miles.
I was going to sell it but I am going to make a pick up out of it.
I will post a pic tomorrow of the immaculate light boxes ;-)

Did a temporary fix for the alarm going off on the D3 after it's been parked for a while after running, unplugged the bonnet sensor & bridged the connections with some wire. Will have to get a new catch soon.

mine kept doing that , but when i had to remove my headliner to replace the airbags i found the sensor wasnt in the headlining clips , so was all loose

everytime the neighbour across the street started his motorbike it would go off every time , as all i can assume was the sensor would move from the vibration of the motorbike , bizarre

after resecuring it has all been well

have u removed the basic alarm sounder , done it with mine so it will now use the horns for the alarm

Hi Mate,
I assumed it was my bonnet sensor on mine as i kept getting the bonnet open message whilst driving. Cleaned up the connector & adjusted the catches but it still kept going off. It's still connected to the sounder & must say it's the quietest alarm ever, could only just hear it going off outside, the first thing i noticed was the lights flashing. Is this just a basic unplug to use the horn?

PS. Blimey, thats some work to sort out the sensor!

hi, that's a result and makes a change for the D3 to actually tell u what's wrong and not have a mastermind degree , lol

is indeed simply the case of unplugging it and unbolting the complete assembly , is considerably louder now being on the horn system

i had to remove the headlining anyway to replace the drivers side curtain airbags so a lot had to come out , also had to replace front seat belt tensioners and drivers seat airbag , so the seat had to be stripped down

when i removed the headliner that is when i noticed the alarm sensor all loose

this is a few pics of the work involved removing a headliner, not for the faint hearted, lol

long story , but basically i bought it as a project and found out someone had cut the old airbags out after it had been side swiped on the drivers door causing the airbag system to go off, drivers door had been totally replaced so was fine with the repairs that had been done

also took the pics in case it helps other

Stripped off the old fabric from the headlining, took a deep breath and applied new...... also fixed the sunroof seals to body.... cleaned all the interior trim that came off with the headlining removal... just waiting for the GPS antenna to arrive the. I can reassemble.....

And upgraded the software on the Becker Traffic Pro.... it was pretty complicated, so I'll post some photos and a fuller description later once I have recovered... but the basic steps were....

1. Buy the cd Rom from Latvia
2. Open envelope and remove disc 1
3. Insert disc into head unit
4. Switch on radio
5. Watch as the software install runs from 0% to 100%
6. Use radio

Think that's about it.....

Threw a bottle of Forte injector cleaner in to a full tank and went for a long drive (if there is such a thing on a small Island), and I swear the engine is running smoother and more freely. Of course it's highly likely that this is purely psychological, and I don't care!

The laquer on the paint on the roof of the Disco is looking a tad worse for wear and starting to peel off so I took a trip to the local vehicle body repairers to see what they could advise.
Well, short of do nothing or use some laquer on a small brush to seal the edges, they weren't particularly helpful. Just a simple respray, if a lacquered finish is simple would have required the headlining out along with the sunroofs and roof bars. The price honestly couldn't be justified.
However, they did say that getting the roof vinyl wrapped might be a reasonable idea to try, so I've found a company quite close to me and I'll be paying them a visit in the very near future.
If I decide to go down that route, I'll keep everyone up-to-date with what happens.

Got a stage 1 remap and greased the UJs and prop sliders.

Certified Remaps in willenhall @GJ1 they're a franchisee of quantum tuning
