Yeh..doesnt really make sense!
I was trying to say, shes always got me there and back, but her TLC requirements were getting me down!

was brand some 4 x months ago, is my own fault as i sometimes don't use the landy for a few weeks and sometimes just a short trip to the shops and back

know the alternator is fine but will check residual drain on refitment of the battery

next year i think i'm going to invest in a split charge system

Why not get a solar panel fitted to charge the battery.

think ur right , think there's a few threads on here about them, these are certainly power hungry

residual on mine should be under 22 ma and takes 20 x mins to sleep , going to recheck when i put the battery back on

will check the solar panels out , as that would be ideal until such times i fit a split charge , its the winter time that concerns me the most for battery drainage

ok so where do i buy these from and who do you recommend - also looking at the posts the centre bearing is a sticking point, do you know if its available to buy in the UK ?

When I replaced my front prop shaft, I managed to find one with grease nipples fitted on the double cardan U/Js as well as one fitted to the front single U/J.
You might want to consider fitting a slightly longer grease nipple to the front joint to make it easier to get the grease gun to fit without modification. I did this to the single U/Js on both the front and rear prop shafts.
If your replacement U/J's are the type with the grease nipples fitted into the cross yoke, longer nipples here might help too. Mine have the grease nipples fitted into the "end bearing cups".
You will find it easier to fully grease the U/Js and the sliding joint on the new prop shaft before you fit it

been doing some further reading , as all of my cig lighters are ign based i will have to convert the boot one , so that it's constant live to accept the solar charger, just got to work out the best way

i.e., run a wire directly to the battery from the boot cig lighter, ensuring its fused, but see it can't be left connected , maybe installing a switch on the dashboard , or maybe inside the glove box so it's out of the way

reconnected battery , started on the button and good to be mobile again

when it stops raining will start doing a residual amperage draw test

cleaned out a very gunky MAP sensor. Not driven yet to see if any difference.

Replaced the air and fuel filter. No excuse for not doing this simple job every 6 months when it only takes 5 minutes.

Well took it orf and bashed the seven shades of wotsit out off it
now posses a propshaft in lots of pieces
all being well (and purchase of a grease gun and grease) it goes back together tomorrow if the weather is fine it should be back on by the afternoon and out for a test drive

Well that was a bit optimistic
the centre bearing was a pig to get out took over 3 hours what with running around to local spares shop to see if they had some pullers that would fit, which they didn't, ended up calling my local mobile mechanic to see it he knew how to get the bearing out, he didnt but we managed to remove the centre ball with a little bit of trickery and a lot of expletives, so 1 1/2 hours later back home and grind the remaining outer casing out so i can hit it wiv a BIG hammer. Put it all back together greased up and refitted. took it for a test drive and it seems ok this has solved the squeal that was really annoying

makes all those years as an apprentice seem worth while now

and yes there is a very nice feeling when it all goes back together --- and works

mind you the sore knees and bashed fingers might not agree
