Ta. I'm going to order two new ones and replace them both. If one has "gone", then the other one may not be far behind.
 
drove home yesterday on low rear suspention would not raise or lower in off road mode ,,,checked rear hight sensors and found offside to be very stiff so think it may have failed in a low axle travel position ,,banged a pair of new sensors on ,,,,,,,happy days back up and running
 
Round 2 of last week's fight with front drop-links, this time with new toys...

...which made very light work of getting 100Nm on the nuts whilst simultaneously holding the shank from rotating with a torx bit.

New front axle breather, old one had nearly chafed thru against the radius arm.

Fitted a clip to stop the PAS pipe chafing on the sump. Noticed it whilst doing the oil pump bolt, just like http://www.discovery2.co.uk/Oil_pump_bolt.html
Found the clips on ebay after measuring the pipes last week - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221276473068
Not sure how long it will last but seems to be doing the job for now:

Finally, fitted the turbo oil drain Shifty sent me from his TD5 hoard (thanks mate!). Had suspected the old one was leaking due to warped flange - confirmed...

Last week went to Sheffield & on a couple of roundabouts it felt like it was tooking in turning right :eek:
Don't get me wrong this could have been because of slaypy roads ( OIL DIESEL DAMP) but non the less a bit concerning !
So when I got home I gave it a GOOD shake & could hear & feel a clicking on the rear & front wheels (Passenger side) Jacked the rear up BUT could NOT feel any thing in the bearings :confused:
So took it over to mates & stuck it on ramp & gave it the 1s over ! WE still could NOT feel any thing in the rear bearings BUT if you looked at the disc you could see it moving:eek:
So down to DAD's yesterday & set to sorting out!
Striped rear down & it was only after I took the pads out that you could feel that the bearings needed a tweak ! front bearing out cleaned grease of to check for pitting ALL good so a bit of fresh grease & back together :)
Took caliper off & gave disc a fettle with flap disk NEW pads & BOB's your uncle ! Did the other side rear & found that had a bit of play so did the same :) Just got the fronts to do now :(
 
Finally got round to getting the aircon sorted.....basically just needed regassing. But so much better with the weather at the moment
 
Removed the head lining ready for retrimming and to find out where the leak is found out the front sunroof drains have been sealed and cable tied in the past, the rear sunroof doesnt work will need to find out why. I will get the hose out tomorrow.
 
Bought a Hawkeye Total and 14CUX lead for my 95 3.9EFI which proved to be a very worthwhile investment. To my amazement, only one fault code found which seemed to be historic but a problem was picked up on the live data read which was the root cause of some issues on warm up. Now fixed and it's running properly. The new Hawkeye Total is unlocked for all models which is a big step forward from the old unit where, I believe, it was locked for one model on purchase. Extra models could be unlocked for a fee.

In anticipation for replacing rather than repairing the inner wings, I was checking parts availability and YRM appear to have some really good replacement panel kits. However, mine had been repaired in the past and this included welding the top extension/valance that the outer wing bolts onto. The left hand side is available but everyone was saying that the right hand side is no longer available and nobody makes them as a copy part. I managed to track down OE stock at Rimmers; twice the price of the left hand side but at least I have both sides now. Worth knowing if you need this particular panel.
 
Found the leak resealed the rear sunroof drain now all water tight, stripped the sunroof motor cleaned and reassembled, r

Continued polishing the thing. Just got three bits left to do, both front doors and one rear door. To do it properly, I should really wait until the sun has at least gone down far enough so that the bits I'm doing aren't in direct sunlight .... not good for polishing.
At this rate, by the time I get it finished, it'll be time to start all over again, but it keeps me out of mischief I s'pose.
