Replaced the passenger side door lock as the central locking on that side was goosed. £20 for a good used unit and surprisingly easy to replace. I removed the entire window frame as it was rusty where it met the door and rubbed it down and repainted it before refitting. Not perfect as the metal was pretty rusty but will be fine until I track down some good replacements.
Central locking now working - yaayyy!
Very good, you can come and fix mine :D

Did a nice little repair Friday night that only cost a penny

Oh yay, looks like I'm gonna need to learn to weld sooner than I thought

bought 3 bf goodrich all terrains to complete the set on mine which ill fit this week. all brand new and got them for 90 quid!!! however didnt manage to flog my side steps

I also think that the biggest problem was the introduction of gassless mig welders. With an 'old fashioned' arc welder, you had to create a weld pool otherwise the rod would just stick so you either got great penetration or a big hole. The gassless mig can just deposit weld material on the surface without any penetration and the slag it creates forms all sorts of fissures and imperfections.
I found a 'Parker' inverter stick welder that is almost small enough to keep in the glovebox (well not quite .. but almost LOL) and on flat, well joined and clean material I can weld a nice line - I failed when I had to go upside down on the chassis leg :)

This is my 6th Land Rover and 5th Discovery and I've managed to skirt doing any of my own welding even though the guy I share the workshop with has three massive industrial welders

Just gotta try and make time to do it.
Wanted to go for evening classes as mentioned above, however job means I often night out in the lorry so can make college :(

As it was a nice warm day I decided to waxoyl spray the inside of the chassis and sills - so pulled out the compressor and shultz gun, put a 5l can of waxoyl on the radiator and got under the truck to make a start. Wife called me for a coffee, I moved and ...... bloody tow bar!!!!!!!

Ouch, Wifeys fault then......

Are you stood in your tidy whiteys in that photo?????:eek::eek::eek:

Cheers
