Took the sponging dash to pieces just to swap 1 bulb in the recirculation switch

What a bloody faff, you don't get that on tratters

Now the one in the hazard warning switch has packed up

carrying on with my egr blank

as the sunshine has finally appeared

found an easy way to get to the left hand side, removed abit of the aux battery tray and air filter

right hand blank done , blanked throttle body back in and new T bolt clamp on the intercooler

well that's another job done , synergy fitted, is off at the moment as i wish to test the engine first , now the egrs are blanked

can then turn the unit on after i've got some true mpg readings

over the moon i now have them blanked , engine runs smoother on tickover already

Fixed the starter with a solinoid repair kit I decided to leave that top but off, fitted a clear indicator lenses kit just the egr delete to do then a complete fluid change and gearbox filter think it will be about ready then the rear chassis can wait

Why? , the top nut is not that difficult. just use the shortest 15mm socket 1/4 drive with an extension. I personally think with the force you are asking it to impart on the engine it is better to have that nut in place. Not like you are going to need to take it off soon. How bad were your contacts???

Installed a holder for the nanocom and a CB radio - got the SWR down to 1:1 with a mag mount aerial and then sat there for 2 hours trying to find someone using it (yes it was set to UK 40FM) and never heard a thing - so now I'm worried that it's not actually working!!! What happened to all the CBers???

Wow, deja vu, I got a cb the other day, quickly set it up in the garage, and the same as you, spent two hrs looking for someone to talk to, and nothing, will try tomorrow as someone on the way up to Preston must have one, must confess though, didn't use a swr meter,

I swapped my leaky exhaust manifold gasket, every bolt came out with its stud

So down the shed to the vice

General clean up, studs put back in and new gasket on

Bolt it back together, swap the rocker cover gasket and breather, then give it the once over with a bit of degreaser

Been out all day with my new 300 Tdi, done 150 miles no problems with running, pulls like a train and not too bad on diesel.
Only thing a noticed today was rear door frame is not sealing properly - i'm getting fumes into cabin, I noticed some water inside last week, so a new seal needed.

Look for play in upper and lower hinges, I had similar and the top hinge was goosed allowing water in at the top

Replaced the passenger side door lock as the central locking on that side was goosed. £20 for a good used unit and surprisingly easy to replace. I removed the entire window frame as it was rusty where it met the door and rubbed it down and repainted it before refitting. Not perfect as the metal was pretty rusty but will be fine until I track down some good replacements.
Central locking now working - yaayyy!
