Highly technical job completed today.

I put new front windscreen wipers on it.

It turned out to be the inside wheel arch/body making contact and rubbing on the HD shock turrets.
Dremmel and cutting disc and a bit of minor trimming and it’s all good again!!

Thats what my lose heatshield sounded like, but was more from the middle of the car. Certainly worth checking - when it stops raining!

Apparently I can't even do this right as the new blades miss parts of the screen on one side and only wipe on the return wipe on the drivers side.
They are genuine Lucas blades.
I'll have to buy another set of aero ones i think.

D3 started to honk when I locked it

Noticed it says on the dash that the " Bonnet is open "

The spring that operates the micro switch had come away from the mechanical locking mechanism all sorted now thankfully

I fitted Michelin all singing dancing rain blades to her TD4, she was moaning about how rubbish they were until one day we notice I'd left the blade covers on ha ha ha ha

Drove Myrtle for about 7 hours yesterday around the country inspecting several Defenders for sale in Buckinghamshire and in Leicestershire areas.
I had one half tank petrol fill up in Cambridgeshire then back home to Suffolk. Myrtle handled the drive flawlessly with no issues.

Removed the bumper - fitting paused while I clean more mud off it!

Bumper, steering guard and new steering bars at the ready

Got fed up of breaking and buying filler cap catches so modified it slightly with a 10mm long, 2mm bolt

works a treat and cost about 5p

Painted the new inner wheelarches I fitted in February today.

Snapped my rear radius arm at billing off road course son Friday. Ratchet strapped it up to get to the tent, new one bought and fitted in about an hour so I could offroad again today and then drive home tomorrow. Joys of land rover

Off roading went well, no other damage and just covered the 130 mile trip home without issue to, got to love the disco

Took the D3 Billing yesterday to the 4x4 show

Watched some people get stuck in water, watched people drive through a big mud swamp!

All good, met some great people and got some good ideas for both my LR's

I spent a couple of hours removing some swivel pin shims and fitting a new stub axle along with new tapper bearings to the passenger side. I guess it would have been better to do the swivel bearings at the same time but money and time are a bit tight at the moment. Next on the list is replace the lift pump as it turns out its as much good as a chocolate fire guard and remove some shims from the drivers side along with replace what ever else is shagged. I have a feeling that corner will be a more involved job.

Had an air con regas after fitting a new condenser and dryer

Bumper and steering guard fitted along with new steering rods

Did a height calibration on the D3 air suspension unit using the Autel AP

All good, cracking little unit and D3 sitting now sitting more level than I thought what was level!

Unbeknown to me my suspension was slightly out by mm's

So decided to replace the fr. diff. output seal today & after getting the prop off & needing to hold the flange to undo the bolt I used my old seized tailgate hinge as a LR special tool, I just had to drill two of the holes to 12mm on the pillar drill & hey presto.

Love the special home made tool design.

Swapped my lift pump over today. After it not working properly for about 6 months I can honestly say Wow what a difference. I also added a 5mm spacer to it. Will it make it last longer? Will it make it work better? I have no idea but I fitted 1 and it is working great. I'm over the moon as it now starts with a flick of the key and I don't have to use the variable resister mod (edc injection pump boost) to keep the engine running. I dare say I could even over take a tractor now.

Took the D3 to have an alignment check

All badly out, no wonder I go through tyres like no tomoorow!

Booked in now next week to be sorted!
