What did you do with your Range Rover today

I think you worry too much, the DVLA do not seem to have a leg to stand on with the evidence you have.
Oh I know i worry too much a lot of the time my mental health definitely gets the better of me. Wish it wasn’t so but that’s the hand I was dealt.
 
We just did a six month interim service today on our 2006 3.0 TDi Range Rover Vogue, used the extractor pump to change the oil, wish I had owned one back in the day! Immaculate change absolutely NO oil spillage on the driveway or anywhere else, possibly the best £40 that I have ever spent of vehicle service gizmo's. Of course being an old RR it had to provide some 'entertainment' which it did in the form of one of the hex bolts on the air cleaner cover refusing to be reseated, but apart from that all good. Old oil filter was grim looking as was the air filter, real PITA changing the 'Elephant's tusk'! I use semi synthetic oil on the old girl which seems a happy medium but am amazed at how crap it soon gets to look when checking the oil levels, will probably do a full engine flush next service just to be sure.
Whenever I do the oil on my td6 I always use sump plug, just put suspension in off road, have got a extraction pump but pipe isn’t quite long enough to go from floor up to engine then down the dip tube, may be worth doing a couple of oil changes within 1000 miles of each other, give it a bit of a clean? Mine goes in golden and takes about a week to go light brown then at least 3 weeks before turning dark brown, it is the first diesel that takes a while to go filthy, that’s with either morris or millers oil whichever I can get cheapest at the time. Td5 disco took a while but that had two filters.
Regarding air filter they are tricky, did you undo the two 15mm and pull the vent duct up and away? As that gives a lot more room, don’t forget the engine breather under the air filter, I swapped it for the centrifuge type that never needs replacing again.
 
I am going to check the oil level later today and will see what the colour is. I had thought about doing another oil change just to see if the oil appeared clearer. Yes the retaining 15mm's are well hidden, I realised the first time we changed it we put the air filter in upside down! Now it is fine and the noise I thought was a dodgy turbo turns out to be air that was being sucked in due to the filter not being inserted correctly.
I remember going on a road trip many many years ago in an AUDI 100 GLS that we had that had a questionable engine compression, that was temporarily resolved with generous amonts of Winns (remember winns?) AND eventually a **** off stereo that was SO loud you couldn't hear the engine noise....I am beginning to think that I might utilise the loud button on the RR as despite it's many generic issues the old girl DOES have a very loud sound system. So my advice is yes listen out for noises etc once in a while, but the rest of the time turn the stereo up LOUD! That way you won't constantly be 'dog whistling!'for problems, those that exist and those that are figments of a Paranoid RR owner (myself)..
 
The 'logic7' radio in my 322 is rubbish.. maybe because it's the cheap option.
Well it's not rubbish, but they've taken out all the adjustments so it can never actually sound any good.
 
Not sure about your L322, but on mine if you only use the AUX input (mine has been modified to take MP3 etc) you can easily overide the logic 7 settings. I use a blue tooth receiver that plugs into the lighter socket for power and is set to 87.5 FM on my stereo because no one uses that frequency to broadcast. The disadvantage is that the unit won't operate as a hands free for the phone at the same time as playing the Radio, but in a convoluted way you can set the additional blue tooth for solely MP3 and radio and use the L322's own blue tooth just for the phone. It is a bit of a faff but it does give you Sonic control.
 
Used it used it used it, towed with it, almost considered getting a van to tow with but nah soon went off that idea, its been loaded with spare wheels and all sorts for the drift car, 7months and heaps of miles and im still happy with my choice to go from a td6 to a supercharged

Cam cover gasket done. Looks like the one from that top-end kit failed. Maybe it was for the later model as I think I saw 2 listed when I bought the replacement.

Sump gasket done. What a horrible job: covered in oil and struggled to get clean this evening. It did look as though it had failed at the front slightly, although it might have been me getting it off. I hope it is it or the only other option is the front crank seal. Getting it back on was an absolute nightmare. It just wouldn't go up on the passenger side and in the end frustration kicked in and I punched it: there was a click and it sealed flat. I just hope I haven't damaged anything underneath.

Finally I looked at the leaking oil cooler pipes and decided to wash out with brake cleaner and pack some Quiksteel around where the rubber goes into the metal connectors. It may work long enough to go through the MoT test, especially if I wrap insulation tape around it tomorrow.

Only slight setback was the oil change. I had a spare filter but no oil. A bit odd that as I normally buy in sets ready for the next change. Ordered some to pick up tomorrow and after that just need it booked in.

loody cars! Been doing z few jobs on the p38-been cleaning up and painting the underneath, brakes and back plates. Had another go at changing the temp sensor-been using a dongle and torque lite for a while. Removed air con compressor but still can't get a socket or a bent spanner in it. Looks like I'll have to move the alternator but have an irrational fear of disconnecting the battery!

Looks like I'll have to move the alternator but have an irrational fear of disconnecting the battery!
Can you get a crows foot in there?
 
"Emptied" the A\C system just to find it can't hold vacuum. Filled with nitrogen and spotted the leak, there is a hole in one of the pipes running under the air filter housing. I took it out and tomorrow I will see if it can be cut out and replaced in that spot plus some fittings or if I will have to order another one. Hopefully the only leak!
