The other day the car broke down with a lot of smoke from the engine. I know there is air getting in the fuel system and a lot of diesel getting into the sump. The front cam seal popped out and if I pop it in again it just comes out along with a lot of smoke. I have a new one along with a set of new injector seals and washers and camcover gasket. I took the cam cover off and run the engine for literally just a few seconds. Even though the engine didn't warm up there was smoke coming from the timing chain area.

Could this be caused by excess diesel in sump? Should I just change injector seals and washers and oil an see what happens?

I thought the oil has to mist in there like that to lube the chain and cam lubes, when running lift the oil cap off and see if it’s chuffing out, if so it’s probably time for another good used engine
