In the back of my 90 (ex MOD), on the bit that would have had seats on (and I think I have just answered my own question ) are some small holes. This isn't good when wading as it leaks like a sieve. Can I fill them in? Can you buy plugs for them? Why are they there in the first place?

being ex mod they could have almost anything bolted in with them , either way sounds like you need some grommets either rubber or plastic , or shallow headed set screws , and some sika flex ;)

on the plus side it lets it back out again :D

Really? You're driving a defender and you're worried about water coming up some small holes in the back . Perhaps you should head on over to Namby Pamby Land (otherwise known as the freelander forum).

defenders are like colanders :D

i've just been out and about in derbyshire in my mates fender and it has a rather high fountain up through the transmission tunnel when going through big puddles :)

not overly worried but would like a little less water to come in! And, there bloody draughty when you are trying to kip in the back :p

How large are the holes anyway? Just stick some rivets in them if you can't get grommets small enough. Ive got quite a few small holes in my tub ill be doing that with

I stuck gaffer over the ones in mine, mainly cos stuff inside got splashed with mud/road grime.
never have got round to grommets. might stick some flash band over em next time im thinking about it.
