agreed - but there is a significant distinction between knowingly selling a stolen motor and acting in good faith. Its like the OP being done for receiving.....

Without entering into an argument, a motor trader should be expected to have experience to check good title-that said there were issues with car auctions not checking hpi on cars a while back.

would you not agree a call to consumer direct should give some free guidance on how to proceed.

Yes - as stated about he aught to read, and act on, the crock of **** thread we have already mentioned.
As it is from a trader, the trader has a legal responsibility..... I think we both agree on the course of action.

My comment was only on whether JtLM acted in good faith or not, before he gets slated.

Err he has pulled stunts in the past I believe, but now is a perfect opportunity to find out how he deals with the issue.

mate now you have done the hard work of finding the inshourance people. all you have to do is phone them every day.. wait a week or two for wot you have done nothing wrong. i dont think they should of ask you to prove anything.. the police are finished with the car. the insurance people dont want it. thay have all they need from the police ... drive them crazy but be nice or this will go on and on and on for ever.. offer to send them the agreed money in the post and ask if you can go and pick your car up asap. do not take any more **** then you have already very best of luck. and by the sound of it you'll be driving it agen very soon

The guy that stole the vehicles and changed their identities had computer records of the vehicle registrations that he had cloned. So the police had a nice long of vehicles to look out for and mine was one of them.
