Hi. As you may have seen on my main thread, it seems I need a fair spot of welding done; sills, arches, mounts etc.

If I got to a garage I'm gonna get charged usual hourly rate plus vat and they say it's a lot of hours.

Is it the done thing to seek the services of anyone from this forum who is local to east kent and would fancy some welding work. I would of course pay such help but hoping to reduce costs as much as poss.

If anyone is interested, feel free to contact me. Apologies if this is not correct forum etiquette ( relative newbie ).

Many thanks.

I think Not many welders would want to take that big job on.It's time consuming.I would buy a cheap mig welder, have a few hours practice and its easy enough to do yourself.Theres plenty on here to give you support and advice. If i was near i would help a bit.Good luck finding someone to do it.

I agree, buy a mig welder (not gassless) and spend a few hours practicing on some scrap steel. I'm sure that's the way to go with the amount of welding you mention and you can do it at your leasure!

Hi.
Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the honesty.

As a newbie, I can't really offer the forum advice and Guidance so thought the next best thing would be to maybe offer some work. Happy to hear from anyone still of they do fancy it. May be in luck though as guy at work is keen landrover welder and maker of stuff so hope to gain a few pointers from him as well as the forum.

Will post as I progress.

Still, worked out that I'm getting 27 to the gallon today so it ain't all bad. !! And that's WITHOUT blanking Egr, de cat etc. !!
