Could it be something simple like the button on the key fob for releasing the boot is stuck in the open position!
What your describing is exactly what happens to my car if I accidentally press the open boot release on my key fob whilst turning the ignition on!

Try your other key?

Thanks for the advice dog face :p:p

tried other key, same story !

however today, went to work and realised when i got to there that i didnt experience the fault today ?!?!?

so shut off engine and tried again,... didnt bloody do it.

and for the rest of today its stopped playing up.

not going to be an easy one to diagnose lol

definitely still think my BCU is playing up, as going back now i remember that when leaving your keys in the ignition and opened the door i used to get a "keys in ignition" warning ? i haven't had that for weeks !

and it now tells me that my batteries are low in the fobs, however both fobs have had new batteries

maybe something on the dash switch is playing up ? i know there is a proximity reader that senses the chip in the key which gives the handshake with the ecu that it is the correct key when starting the engine..

hmmmm.. im getting there slowly :D

Today has been warmer than the previous two days - could it be condensation in the BCU from the sudden colder weather or some other temperature related issue??

either way, i want to fit the later Body control ECU that LR recommend doing to the early L322's as they develop the same problem as my "hazard lights" situation.

so i guess the question is.... has anyone in the Hertfordshire area got a FaultMate MSV2 that can come and program my ECU ?

im willing to pay of course. otherwise do you reckon if i take in my own replacement ECU to landrover would they program it in for me ?

Cheers guys
