we have a leak????????????????? help

had 2 new propshaft bearings fitted today all fine even though it took ages to remove front one?
just took daughter out to a mate and there was a burning rubber smell well thats what i thought. turns out there is black oil like stuff coming out from the front end of the prop nearest the engine any clues please? hubby said it was dripping on the exhaust pipe that was the smel.l

Sounds like they "may" have damaged or torn the front CV joint gaiter (which isn't replaceable by itself if i remember correctly) on the front (vcu to ird) drive shaft

The black "oil like" substance could be the grease from it.

Or it could simply be some IRD oil if they pulled the shaft out rather than split it.

I was saying to hubby that there was a thud when i went out.
He came home from work and decovered the u shape washer was missing ( if there was one on both sides of the new bearings) so off I went up the road to were I thought it had flew off and luck would have it there it was. put it on tightened it up hay presto no more leak hope that was it.
hubby said front part of prop was moving about.
