core plug ocktite new one in use socket just slightly smaller than inside of plug

thats good news,when youve fitted the new plug take your time filling with coolant to avoid airlocks, 50/50 water/oat anti freeze you may as well change it while your at it
Good news indeed! Although, I still could have HG problems as I do not know whether the previous owner overheated the engine......
There's no oil in the coolant or vice versa though. I'll keep everything crossed
I was planning to replace the coolant yes, but first I'll fill it with plain water to see if that was the only leak
What's the recommended anti freeze for mine?
About the core plugs......is Loctite Lock & Seal the one I need?

You could use Hermatite instead of Loctite.
By the way, the block drain plug is just to the right of your missing core plug !!
Be sure to fit the core plug the right way round (Lip to outside)
