Hi, does anyone know if I can fit a pressure sensor into the cylinder head of my 2.5 diesel and would the wiring be simple.I have had overheating problems and would like to either 1 keep an eye on water pressure or 2 fit some sort of alarm to check if water is being ejected from overflow. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds pretty pointless.

As ever, anything is possible, it's down to how much you want to spend. For sure, a switch with a buzzer will be cheaper than an analogue signal.

I asked for info, not usless comments. If you have nothing useful to say then say nothing
Useless ideas tend to attract useless comments. Overpressure is associated with over temperature for which there are already 2 sensors the gauge sensor could be used to drive an overheat alarm. On later cars there is a third sensor which could be replaced with a simple sensor to indicate an overheat at what ever temperature suits you.

Overpressure can happen within seconds of starting a cold engine if compression pressure is getting into the cooling system.
I've long thought that a lot of cooked engines could have been saved if they had been stopped earlier rather than waiting for the water to be ejected and overtemp.

My feelings exactly. I know this has happened with 2 failed head gaskets ( court proceedings in process) and I had no way of knowing it was throwing water down the motorway until the gauge shot up and the red light appeared

Might be better, cheaper and easier to plumb a gauge in.
I'm sure if you look on some of the performance car supplies websites, they will have kits available for water pressure indication.
I'll have a look if I can find anything.

If you have a Bluetooth obd adapter to use with your phone, then the torque app will tell you the actual temperature in degrees. I do this, is simple to program an alert when it reaches a certain number

I would think a manual capillary oil pressure gauge would work tee`d in on the small overflow pipe from the rad to tank.

I think an oil pressure gauge will have to big a range to see any meaningful deflection.
You ideally want FSD to be around 0-30psi.
