Hi - I wonder if anyone can help or at least confirm my worst suspicions ..... recently bought an 02 Freelander 2.5 V6 - I'm losing water but wouldn't appear to have a leak anywhere - there are a few drops (and I mean a few drops) coming out of the exhaust but nothing that would automatically make me think there is a big problem. Topped her up with water overnight but it would appear to have gone down at least quarter inch - any ideas?? Spoke to an "expert" and he basically said "get rid" it sounds like the head gasket????? :(

water pump and/or thermostat housing. take off your air filter housing so you can see between the inlet manifold castings, if there is water in the casting wells in the V of the engine ( the pump and thermostat housing sits above this V ) that could be your problem. I had it on mine and cured it with rad weld over a year ago with no problems. Although a lot of threads don't recomend this as they say it blocks water ways.

Find someone who will carry out a cooling system pressure test. Are you an AA member the guys carry this diagnostic equipment.
