Water leak hunt

So I had a little leak from my water pump, when that was replaced I then developed another, and I haven't been able to track it down.

no signs of head gasket going on the V8 so far, and coolant seems to be running down and under the block to the sump in the pick. That’s the bottom beneath the ACE pump in the pic, and ideas where to check that could be an issue there?.

you can see the OAT fluid in the foreground and it must be running down and building up there. Never seem to spot it doing it, I loss about 1/2 a litre every 1/2 hundred miles or so.

Hi it could be from a number of places but the metal coolant pipe/rail corrodes, there's a short rubber hose that goes to the oil cooler (below the ex. manifold/turbo) or the oil cooler itself + the core plug between 4&5 cyl's (see pics)

Sorry just realised yours is a V8 (after reading your ACE/belt woes) so ignore my post as it's TD5 related

Sorry Andy just realised I never put V8. So I’m assuming there is no suck weak joint as mention on the fuel rail.

With that amount of coolant loss I would check the core plugs, a bit of a pain to get access to do that, plus the hoses to the water pump.

Dust the engine with talcum powder and see where the trails lead from ...

My old Disco had a pinhole leak, from the back of a heater hose, that ran to the bellhousing, that was a bastid to find ... only leaked when up to pressure too ...

Thanks guys will have a look in these areas. It’s a real pain in the arse, now it’s ACE issues are fixed I can have a real dig around and find it.
