Water in fuse box help!

Hi all,

Yesterday clearly the interior fuse box got wet after washing the car. The horn kept going off along with the rear wiper.

Left it overnight to dry and disconnected the batter. After a few hours rear wiper went off and the car locked itself with the bonnet open.

Sorted it out and left it locked. Suddenly car is honking and rear wiper has gone off again. I noticed central locking and rear wiper are in the same area on the fuse box.
What can I do…?

First check your windows are fully up and all the doors are firmly closed. Tailgate can be trouble area and sunroofs. The fuses can normally take a bit of atmosphere before they blow relays on the other hand can suffer eventually. Uncle Nodge will give a better advise than me. How much water did you have leaking onto the carpet to warrant ingress.
Do the usual first in regards to Battery refitting.
1. Fobkey 5 times to reset.
2. Key to lock open lock open open
3. look closely at door windows and doors.
4. threaten with a wrenched branch from neighbours tree screaming Ive had enough thats it.

Hi. I’ve done that already. It’s leaked behind the dash. I don’t know where it’s coming from. I checked behind the pillar and can’t see a leak there. Maybe bottom of the dash either way it’s in the far corner. Do I replace the windscreen?

also is anyone able to tell me the AWG and length of the negative cable on the battery as I need to replace this. The terminal is buggered…

Have you checked the plastic grill area that drains the windscreen water away.

Not actually sure how to lift the scuttle panel up….

I have cleaned with contact cleaner. And now rear window won’t lift, wiper is still stuck halfway and button does nothing.

Sounds like the CCU has got wet, as it's behind the fuse box. As the CCU controls the rear door lock, rear wiper, rear door window and central locking, it's likely the water is upsetting all those items.
Best idea is to disconnect the battery, then remove CCU and fuse box (take pictures or make notes where the plugs go), so the whole assembly can be dried out properly in an airing cupboard or somewhere else warm and dry.

You'll need to identify where the leak is coming from too, which should be easier once the CCU and fuse box is out the way.

Hiya. Thanks for your reply.
That was my worrying. But it’s like it got worse after I used contact cleaner. Unless it’s confused because window dropped with the wiper halfway… I’ve been trying to get the fuse box out but it’s so tight and even with little hands I’m struggling
