water in engine but how?

as it says in the title but im more worried about how the water got to the cylinders as there was no rain present no puddles and the weather was very warm so wtf hppened there?

it definatly was water checked myself but very odd how it got there!

luckly its not damaged the engine as far as i know but i dont want to risk it happening again. so does anyone have any idieas? all i can think of is condensation sumhow getting in? the water was only present in cylinders 1,4,3 (in order of firing) if that helps thanks

Aye but it might be the residue that was left over

The water in the cylinders could be due to a leaking head gasket,or a leaking inlet manifold gasket,or a warped (plastic) inlet manifold. Be careful, water in the cylinders could cause hydrolic lock up ,you could bend a con rod,if the vehicle is parked up for any length of time,take out the spark plugs, spin the engine for a few seconds you will see (or a helper) coolant being pumped out of the cylinders,once you have done this put the plugs back in and start the engine.Does the engine run rough for a few minutes once started?,can you see steam coming out of the exhaust? My plastic inlet manifold had warped,I changed it for a alli vvc inlet manifold from an MGF

cheers for that simon gaskets have been checked and no holes inlet manifold is fine aswell. yes i was very woried bout damaging the engine and ive allready had the plugs off and rotated the engine i saw alot of water come out then a reddish mixture. unfortunatly we diddnt try running it aftewards we just took it to peices again, ive cleanded out the engine and it seems to be running fine altho moments later the coils went so they need replaceing
there is no steam from the exhaust its straight through with only on silencer if that causes a problem?

Taste the water, if you have anti freeze in your system and it is getting in the cylinders it will taste very sweet.

Only thing in mine that is reddish is coolant...sounds very poorly and would imagine a trip to surgery required.
