Hi All 2001 TD5 Discovery
In your humble opinion, How far should the wastegate rod be able to be moved with the engine off, I have attached some mole grips and with a lot of force!! it will move less that a quarter of an inch this surely cannot be right. Yes I have the dreaded missfire at around 3000 revs, Think I may have hit upon the problem!! Given everything a good dousing of WD40 will see what happens but as I say anyone any idea roughly how far it should move?

Cheers

About an inch to an inch and a half I rekon.

Thanks Ratty
Had a better look at it today and with all the wd40 etc it now moves about an inch but also is much easier to move and more importantly, the misfire has gone.

So as I say, Thanks

Hi I suspected my rod was seized as I could not move it at all. Soaked some WD40 on it this morning and left it. Can move it by hand/molegrips with engine off about an inch although it is still quite stiff and not "easy" to move.

Is this normal?

Many thanks

Tom.
