Jumped right in and changed my fuel sender today..:).to find out it made NO difference!. Fuel gauge still reads empty! Is there any other common reason why gauge not working....
Thanks
p.s. I know the gauge may be bust.. so how would I test??
Thanks guys

im having a similar problem with my fuel gauge at the moment. Mine was stuck on half. It would rise but not go below half. but with ignition off it would then drop to empty. i took the sender out of the tank and moved the float up and down and the gauge went up and down with the sender. I then fitted it back into the tank and now it reads empty all the time. Which aint too good when ur running a V8 and trying to guess how much further you can go without filling it up again. i was going to go down a new sender route but might try other things first. I'll be interested in how you get on with yours.

i ran out of fuel the other day gauge was reading 3/4 tank,
Checked the resistance readings from the sender and they were changing depending on the amount of fuel. Checked the wiring all ok
So the Gauge was fecked changed that and the sender and all is well it reads acurate now (changed the sender first) There is a resistor in the fuel gauge if that go then the gauge is fecked

A Genuine gauge is £150
Britpart replacement £ 40
