Hello all!

Just wondering if anyone here has used Warranty Direct, saw their adverts on TV so thought I'd see what they would charge for my RR. £837 a year for basic, or just over £1000 for a more comprehensive cover. Which isn't as bad as I thought it would be, and could pay for itself fairly quickly if anything serious were to go on the RR (like gearbox for example). Appears to cover labour too.

Don't seem to want to inspect your car or anything and so would almost be worth it to fix somethings on mine which are already broke like folding wingmirrors and telescopic steering adjust (thats 500+ on its own)

Anyone used these guys or something similar before? If so what were they like to deal with etc and was it worth it?

Cheers!

I'd check the small print. I doubt it'll be such a good deal once you have. few of them cover electrical items and many charge for removing any items that have to be taken off to get at broken part. also they usually claim it's caused by wear & tear and so not covered.

Voguely - never used a warranty company before but would struggle to pay a grand a year on a warranty for a car which cost me two. 1000GBP is a hansome yearly budget to keep your Rangie in top nick.

By the way what is wrong with your steering?

In my experience with "insurance companies" you will always be the loser..
As said above, once the small print is taken in to account you will find you are covered for fook all!
They always find a way out of paying and/or wearing you down with jargon and bull.
Pay your money, take your choice.
If you do decide to go for it and you make a claim, post back with your findings....!
I would sincerely hate to say I told you so.
Insurance companies are all crooks, no exceptions for me I'm afraid, that is why they are in business making huge profits from ordinary (but naive) individuals.

Spell checker is available for use or just ask an adult!

I used them with my gaylander 2.5.

When I had HGF, the repair costs were about £1800. I ended up by paying about half. Warranty Direct wouldn't pay fir "consumables" such as oil, antifreeze, thermostat etc and wouldn't pay fir head pressure test/ skimming as that was considered (by them) as "extra" to the actual repair.
As it happened their £900 was about what it cost for a years "warranty".

Just be very careful of "wear & tear" and "consumables" which may be things like gaskets, bolts and oil :(.

Also anything that happens in the first 6months is deemed as being "present when purchased" ie there before the warranty and thereby excluded .

Oh - and by the way - mine was the "platinum" cover . You would be better off putting the money away "just in case". If anything happened, taking out a loan to fix it and then paying it back out of your "savings"

Thanks for the responses guys, I figured it was probably a case of 'small printing arse rape'.

@ JT - my electronic telescopic steering is stuck all the way in. I've been quoted around half a grand to fix - outragous. Its a common problem with L322s if you search the web, but LR have refused to acknowledge and recall it. The column adjustment can de-thread if you have it set to all the way out or near there when it returns to its resting position when the car is turned off. Very annoying!

I didn't spoty that it was and L322. I had a similar problem with my P38 but it was pretty easy to fix it.
