Hi all, Im reasonable new to the world of Land Rovers, 7 months now. Whilst driving, about 3 miles, during the heavy tropical downpours of rain, my battery light came on, Steering went tight after driving through some heavy puddles. Soon the illumination went............

Then another puddle, slightly deeper appeared, again battery light on, but this time the TRANSMISSION OIL TEMP LIGHT aswell. Unfortunately this has stayed on . I have drove some 30 miles without a problem, but yet it still remains on . I have checked the gearbox oil which is still sitting on max.

Could the water have damanged the sensor? If so where is the sensor situated?:confused::confused:

I drive a L reg 200 tdi AUTO.

Any help would be appreciated

many thanks

Have you checked the fan/auxiliary belts are there and tensioned correctly?

Hi Paul, Thanks for replying. All the belts seem to be fine, The light comes on from the moment i start to turn the key (even with the hand brake off) and stays on untill i switch off. Ive checked the haynes manual, and there is no sign of any sensor plug for the transmission sensor. According to the hand book, it indicates for high oil temperature in the main gearbox or transfer box. but where is the sensor??? If i knew then i would replace it to see if it was that?

Sorry, I don't know, I have a manual gearbox on a 300Tdi, but the original problems seemed to stem from belts slipping ...
