The only warning lamp with a thermometer symbol is the transmission oil temperture and illuminates when the gearbox oil temperature is high, it's positioned in the dash is above the hazard warning triangle.

In the Owner's Handbook there's no mention of the type of transmission.

All this guessing ... what's the vehicle and why haven't you got a handbook?

Hi,
Is it not a drum brake with exclamation mark inside. In which case it's handbrake applied or low brake fluid.

is it on either of these pics?

Could the Temp gauge be mistaken for an exclamation mark? If so it's ya handbrake/fluid level warning. Just a thought.

I had the same warning light on my 95 Range Rover. Its the transmission fluid temp warning light. Try checking the fluid leval. Too much or too little will cause it to overheat (thats all it was on mine) If the leval is ok then try draining a little out of the gear box. If it is dark in colour it may be time to change it.
