just picked up a warn 26626 winch and bumper its fully working as i tested it before i bought it.it has the remote and the mains cables which look like they fit direct to the battery.should i fit a battery isolater switch or just fit it direct to the battery?..i keep seeing things about solenoids do i need them for this setup and what do they do..lastly anyone know the spec on this winch..ta rich

neither can I - blurry search function is crap.

basically get an isolator switch and the relay goes into the secondary charging circuit for the second battery.

rich did you buy the one on ebay that was in swansea? you need the solonoid pack to power/control the winch. you connect the 3 cables from the winch to this pack and only 1 power lead to the solonoid pack. the control for the winch also goes to each terminal on the pack. i dont think warn have a winch with that model number

with regard to your battery, just run the one for now and see how you get on. i found mine to be fine. when your winching just rev it out of gear to try and help the alternator charge the batt. if you want to fit a 2nd batt you can drop it in next to the 1st one and get a split charge system. lots of threads on here about them. x eng do a good one for £40 that will take a high load. dont get a crappy camper one off ebay because they cant handle winch loads. also , you will need a way of securing the 2nd batt in the box, even though it is a hella tight squeaze.

hi got it off ebay from tewkesbury £400 for winch/bumper abar spots sidesteps and front and rear guards,,it only has the 2 mains cables which i connected to a battery and it all works do i need an additional solenoid then?

i think the winch may have the solonoid pack on it allready, you got any pics? then its just a case of running a positive from batt to winch and a neg from winch to batt. dont run the neg to ground or your batt will get sapped quicker. put the isolator switch in the cab in line with the pos. that way some *unt cant turn your winch on and **** about because you need to put the key into the isolator.

daft, you still not got that picked up? i been mega busy this weekend. looked at 2 300tdi's near torbay that were dogs. then went to pembroke to look at a td5 that i was told was great... to find its a complete dog! was only there 5min. 300 mile trip wasted. could have killed the bloke. lucky he wasnt there! i left before he turned up

no i am livid! calmed down a bit now. i plan to put a special post up warning of this td5... not that many people here would travel to west west west wales to get one. the 300's were described as being "a great example that hasnt been used offroad" to find fooked outriggers and a heavily patched chassis. the otherone was blowing oil out of the oil filler, leaking PAS, leaking swivels, both diffs leaking, leaking sump... chassis was fine on that one though :) i dunno, maybe im expecting too much.

merthyr aint far from zommerzet :) haha, hella diversion. the wife will be pleased daft. just dont stop for too long, rough as tits up there
