I am with the mad hat duffer here. If the water gets into transfer box etc if you do not have breathers the it quickly turns into what looks like Baileys liquer...does not do a good job of keepin metals in the condition oils should and my learning...fu&$ed transfer box

Scott - BTW, it does not look untidy - the manifold takes the 4 tubes into one so that is what runs up snorkkkkkle. Chuck a cable tie around this and you canny notice it. ta

have a look at your front axle, you will see 2 chrome 'balls towards either end these are the swivel balls, the bit on the outside are the swivel housings, between the balls and the housings there is a rubber seal, and connecting the two on the top and bottom are swivel pins inside the swivels is a C.V. joint (cv meaning constant velocity) (unless your in a series then you have UJs in there)

Yeah the mainifold is a great idea (Four into one)

Thats what im now going to do :)

I said it would untidy if all four were to run up the snorkle

Corr thats an awsome thread. I can't believe that expansion and contraction of the ball joint can let water into the axle, i take it that the axle oil lubricates the ball joint? Y -N?

nope the axle case is sealed off from the swivel, (which most people forget and end up not checking there swivels on services) the swivel contains either one shot grease (available from most landrover accessory shops or from landrover themselves or some contain ep90 gl4 (mostly older series vehicles)

you should have a look through the busters handy guides section ;)
