Am lookin for a wadin kit for my 90 and found this on fleabay. Just wondering wot people thort as it is considerably cheaper than others. Cheers

Your axles, gearbox and transfer box have breathers fitted as standard. The pipes go into the engine bay up to just below the bonnet level usually. All you need for the timing case and bell housing is a plug. I believe a cheaply available threaded bung from a domestic radiator fits perfectly and costs pennies. If the pipes in your engine bay are not high enough for your liking( are you really planning on going in up to the windscreen?) just extend them a bit, again costing pennies. You don't need to spend many of your hard earned quids on so called wading kits.

only problem with that kit when i mailed him is you can have any colour you like as long as its blue..me personally if i was gonna extend them to the outside of the snorkel for instance i wouldnt want bright blue pipes on there.

tht is a good point. Tho could quite easily put my own black tubing on it. Its more the plugs that i need. Thing that puts me off stickin radiator plugs in is presumably id hav to take em out when just using it normally.

My son bought me the flea bay kit when I bought my 90 in April.... it is still in the box complete with bright blue tubing. Unless he buys me a snorkel for Fathers Day I will just take the tubes to the top of the engine bay. A blue snorkel would match okay:)
I now have use of a garage with a pit so I will be fitting them next week....I had no idea that axles, gearbox and transfer box had them fitted already.
I have 15 pages of notes gathered off the wise members for all the other jobs.

Will the fittings supplied with the flea bay kit screw into existing breather holes? Or are we best leaving them alone and just fitting to the timing case and bell housing and linking them up at the top of the engine bay?

I bought one of these too for my TD5, i can confirm it does have blue pipes.... :(

Im not sure if I require any plugs for the TD5 for deep wading - anyone help ????

why would you do that the breathers are already at the top of the engine bay..the kit is designed to extend them beyond the engine bay

If you had those ones out of that kit fited permanently they would probably fill up with oil which would be unable to drain away thus resulting in your clutch and/or timing belt getting oiled up and ceasing to function. The holes in the timing case and the bell housing are DRAIN holes, not breathers, thus the makers of those items do not appear to understand the workings of the vehicle they are flogging accesories for.

hmm. So bungs are just as good then. How often would they hav to be removed to allow the oil to drain? or would it b best to stick em in when needed? Tho ino ill forget em until its too late
