Hi I'm going to be removing my viscous van and air con what I wanted to know is if any one has used the air con fans as cooling fans obviously after removing air con rad putting them straight up against radiator and Intercooler?

Why. And I don't think that the air con fans move enough air also you would need a temp sender to switch on and off the fans.

Yes, i've done it on my 200 and it worked a treat, i've just removed the kit on my 300 so need to fashion up a frame to mount the fans on.

On a 200, the fans are separate to the aircon rad so its much easier. There is also a back up sensor in the coolant, so if for any reason your coolant isnt cooling sufficiently, the aircon fans will kick in automatically and start bringing things under control. I've ran my 200 like this for over 5 years, on road and off, heavy towing and empty. Works a treat.

I'm assuming that there is a back up in the system of a 300 as well, but the aircon fans are attached to the aircon rad, so a wee bit of lateral thinking to get it set up will be required.

Mine already has an electric fan fitted by the previous owner, so the aircon ones will just be to back that up on the hottest of hot days etc.

try a search...its been done before....gonna do my 200tdi one day. lot of people recon they run ok with no fans...but if the aircon fans are there may as well use them.
other diesel hatchbacks ive driven, astra, meganeetc, with leccy fans they never seem to come on unless the temp gauge is in the red.... ive always added a switch so i can turn them on before the engine overheats
