hi all got back from work today used full lock to get on the drive and there was a rubbing sound abit like a tyre rubbing or brakes binding so i tryed it in reverse both turning left and right no noise could it be the coupling.have tryed the tipex test and after a drive round a car park lines dont line up:confused:
 
Your VCU is not seized.

Do a :search:around here and you'll find all manner of hints and tips about the somewhat vague noises you describe.

Mine was making all kinds of weird noises after a recent greenlaning trip; removal of stones and other debris from brakes and steering gear removed most of them :)

It's easy to get paranoid about noises, just carry on doing the basic diagnosis you've started and you'll either find the cause :doh:; something will break more obviously :eek:; or the noise will go away :D.
 
Driver could be heard muttering at the various bangs and crashes as mud fell off the back - sounds awful.

Cleared the sump "guard" and fixed it (one side had broken off) - had half of Hampshire behind it :D

Just have one crawnching sound to track down now...:confused:
