vibration

I have noticed a vibration and it's generally around 1500-2000 rpm. More noticable under load at low speed. Have run engine with diff in neutral and still happens through all gears. Not sure if its engine clutch problem if you have any ideas please.

Just trying to eliminate gearbox fault whilst stationary with transfer in neutral.

Hi Jim, it sounds like you've narrowed it down to engine (imo) so, whilst an assistant operates the throttle get round to the engine bay and see if you can find anything unusual.

For example, our TDi 300 had bad engine vibes when I bought her and it was due to the viscous fan. It's bearing had seized off-centre creating bad vibes. As soon as I took it off (my practice with all TDi's) the vibes disappeared.
