could be a number of things. first things i would check is;

engine mounts
gearbox mounts
engine cover (can you move it around by hand?)
trans box weight (metal/rubber block between box and chassis rail near to handbrake drum, is known for the bolts to come loose)

Hi
I have the same noise at the same revs, its the engine mounts.
Crawl under the front of the car and look at the bottom of the engine mounts, there is a small hole. Get something to put through the hole untill it touches the rubber block inside. Mark it and then take it out and measure it, it should be 10mm i think. If the rubber is on the bottom of the mount as mine is the engine vibration will be buzzing through the chassis.
Hope this helps
Mark

Usually both engine mounts, I have also heard (dont know how true it is) that some of the after market ones still allow vibration noise through. The genuine ones arn`t much more so when i do mine it`s having genuine ones on.

thanks for the replies i will try the engine mounts tomorrow, would it be just the one thats gone or normally more??

You would normally do both engine mounts as they will have done the same work. Turners do LR ones for about £50+vat each.

Also considor doing the two gearbox mounts as well (they are much cheaper!!)

It's true, fitted "OEM" ones to mine, made the "idling" vibe terrible, removed em, refitted old ones and sent em back......
