Hello all.

I have 2004 td4 freelander with automatic transmition. (182400km)

After replacing VCU my freelander starts to vibrate on particular speeds. It vibrates only in 60km/h 90km/h 120km/h. It vibrates only into seats. I replaced whole rear diff and bought 4 new michelin wheels. All wheels have been properly ballanced. I tried to go down from mountains on neutral and vibration is still there in all speeds.

Can somebody plese direct me where to look or what to check(replace) next?

I also discovered that front left alloy is to hot after long trip. Other wheels ale just slightly warm.

Thank you all.

Have you checked your front brake the one getting hot? may be the caliper is sticking or disc warped ? just a thought

Does the vcu have a vibration damper?
I hope so. Need to check it tomorrow. My local landrover specialist changed my faulty VCU to reconditioned one so I hope he did it right. Also replaced rear diff and all bushes. He told me that my tires are bad so i bought brand new michelin tires and problem is still there.

Well every bush needs checking really but I mean the ones at the front that connect the roll bar to the suspension via the drop links

It's not on there I have just had a thought I assumed you had the work done at a garage but I think you have done it yourself is that correct?

And you have a sticky brake caliper, and or bent or stuck pins, vibration could also be caused by a soft engine mounting allowing, part of transmission to rub on body

So it's possible you haven't put the props back on in the correct alignment they don't go on in a straight line but are off set and as freelancer said a combo of issues could be at play, hippo did a write up on the props but am going out now will try and find it later you will have to check the brakes as freelancer has said as well

Vibration through the seats suggests something VCU related. The reason it's at several different speeds is due to harmonics of whatever is out of balance. Do all the checks above and come back with your findings.

Looks like the new bearing isn't an OE bearing. Non OE bearings are often poor quality and have stiff rubber bellows. It also looks like someone has attacked the old bearing bellows with some kind of liquid rubber. This will stop the bearing support bellows from absorbing any vibrations.
Looking at the mounting bolts, it appears the bearings are out of alignment.

Hi.

Whole propeller shaft and VCU are removed from my freelander. All vibrations are gone.

So I will order bearing (is TOQ000040G (OEM) hardy spicer ok?) some washer and all bolts (i slightly damaged them). What else to order?

I also marked original alignment but my question is: What if somebody in past assembled whole thing without marking. What is the procedure to properly balance whole thing?

Please look at video with front propeller shaft joint. Is this movement all right?

Thank you

Petr
