Regular maintenance is the key. Change oil frequently. Keep ignition system in good order.

Make sure all ignition parts are genuine Lucas - no pattern parts. Carry essential spares: cap and arm, maybe ignition amplifier.

Keep your radiator clean - if you do a lot of off road and mud it will get clogged. V8's don't like getting hot.

Keep an eye on coolant - head gaskets are a favourite issue. Make sure you have anti-freeze in the cooling system.

Don't put LPG on it.

Just over 81k on the clocks, '95 N, sounds sweet as a nut and so so smooth! £650 inc MOT till Mid March and Tax'd till November! :clap2:

Anything I can do to prevent the head gasket issue? And how can I tell when it's gone?

The drive back was about 100 mile down the motorway between 70 & 80 and no over heating issues so happy there!

Not having driven a V8 before I can't say for sure, but she feel s a bit sluggish when you plant the go pedal. Once she get's to about 3.5 - 4k on the revs she's ok, but she's pretty guttless otherwise...is this normal?

Need to get some rubbers on the sparky system and snorkel it just incase I discover water on my adventures...anyone offer advice in this area?

Give it a full service. Replacing the service parts using good quality genuine parts. Use fresh oil (my recent choice of late has been Valvoline 20w50) and a ERR4430 genuine oil filter. dizzy cap, rotor, Would recommend NGK spark plugs too.

Check if its feelin sluggish after that good service :)

Thrash it to a inch of its life putting a very big smile on your face then thrash it some more makeing you very happy thrash it till it dies then throw it away and fit a 200tdi lol

Yep..I tried a RRC with a 200TDi...once...for a couple of weeks...
Was quicker to catch a bleedin bus!:D
It didnt even sound good:rolleyes:

I think the difference is the length of the threads on the plugs,one of them has short threads the other long threads,so it depends on which cyl heads are on it. If your not sure whip a plug out and check.
