i have just bought a 96 v8 on gas that has been sat in a field for 2 years and im gonna revive it to poss replace my td5 in the future.
it wont run atm but i have found that the fuel pipes are fubar(rotten and leaking), without buying the genuine replacement pipes for £200, would it be possible or has anyone replaced the fuel lines with rubber ones as the metal pipes for a off road vehicle are a daft idea.
cheers

I assume when you say gas you mean petrol - I wouldn't want to put gas gas through rubber unless it was specifically rated for it!

I've done my petrol 110 3.5 V8 with stainless braided hose off EBay. The hose is 400840847613, clips are 121511712843, and the end caps and clamps are 121535006503. I cut the pipe by wrapping in masking tape and used an angle grinder with a cutting disk. The supplied clamps were too small so I used jubilee clips, if you can find the rubber caps without the clamps I'd do that. Also leave the masking tape on to help you get the cap over the end of the braid.

Hope that helps!

Another option would be copper pipe, a lot of kit car builders use it for fuel and it is what I used on my mx5 v8 project and bobtail disco. Works a treat, Relatively cheap and can be formed/bent easily, Standard gas fitting's work on the steel too so you could just replace a section and join on the original steel line where it isn't rotten. On the bobtail I run it tucked right up next to the chassis and p-clamped to floor so it is protected away from rouge rocks, mud, bits of tree etc.

8mm copper pipe along chassis rails and injection hose for the rest. Advancedfluidsolutions on eBay worth a look.
The genuine steel pipes are a nightmare to fit even with the car in a 4 post lift.
Look for injection hose that will take 5bar +
