Recently took my car in to get a check over of everything that needs to be done before it's MOT. It's just about to clock 121,000 miles. I've owned it since it had 105,000 miles on the clock (just below two years).
I was informed that my rear ARC bar is going to need replacing, as it is leaking. I've never seen any oil below the vehicle and I've never seen any fault appear on the dash (Is it the vehicle lean fault?) Any suspension fault that has appeared on the dash, has been a result of air compressor issues, all of which have been diagnosed and fixed.
I have been getting a 'Terrain Response Error', where I can't select any of the special terrain modes. But, diagnostics have proved this is a result of rear sensors sending incorrect data and needing replaced - so I'm guessing this fault would not be associated with the ARC bar?
I've been informed that it's a big job by a couple of indies, each of them informing me that it's a body off process, totalling to around anywhere in the region of £3,500 - £4,000, using genuine Land Rover parts
I have also been informed that it's usual for these to 'sweat' and topping up the fluid in the reservoir will help, but only for a little while, as it will eventually need replacing.
I'm trying to gauge how high this repair should be on my priority list, so I guess my main concerns are:
- Do I need to get this fixed before my MOT in Jan/Feb?
- If so, should I get the front replaced as well/how likely will it be before the front one starts to fail?
- If not, how long can I get away fixing other things first, before coming round to this repair?
