This February I am planning to go skiing by driving the Disco 2 to Val Thorens.

Looking at the weather forecast it is already showing temperatures of -20 min and -12max.

My question is around the waxing of diesel fuel. What do I have to do to ensure the fuel doesn't go waxy and lead to a breakdown halfway up a mountain??

I would think that the garages in these parts of the world would sell diesel with the anti-waxing ingredient in it already, other wise they would lose out on the sale of the stuff in the winter months.
But maybe everyone owns petrol cars in these areas or is it horse drawn slay's. :)

My old diesel Shogun allowed you to run up to 50:50 petrol and diesel to stop waxing. Don't know if you can do it on a Disco. Never had to try it on the Shogun anyway. I suppose it depends on what the injection pump will deal with lube wise.

:) Yo Chap
Worked in Verbier last winter, not much chance of waxing, the euro geezers are pretty switched on re fuel management. They have to be, they experience regularly the sort of things you would't want to dream about in the UK!
However, your battery needs to be 1st class, & your a/f protected down to -40 degrees. You need non freezing screen wash (buy locally)
I'm sure you know chains are a legal requirement up them hills!
They are very size specific on the Disco!
Enjoy it, if the weather gets really bad cos u will keep passing those very very posh germanian & italiano pretend offroaders!

All of the garages in and around the Alps sell winter diesel as standard, so no probs on that front. Got my chains off of Fleabay for £50 delivered. Used them three times last season. As previously stated, make sure anti-freeze is up to the job. Vaselin door sills or they will freeze shut. Have fun.....
