My 300tdi is slowly dying. Sounds like big end or something. So I've managed to acquire a donor but its an auto and mine is manual.

I plan on simply swapping the engine but wanted to know if there was anything I will need to do for it to work. I haven't looked at the auto at all yet and don't know much about them. I've swapped my engine once already so I'm reasonably familiar with it.

Can I put my existing clutch and flywheel onto the new engine?
Is the injector pump the same?
Anything else?

Cheers

you will need to swap your flywheel housing over and fit a spigot bush in end of crank ,if its an edc auto engine they will be some more work with injection system

Thanks for the reply

Don't know if its an edc one. Any way to find out? Was hoping that under it all the engine would be pretty much the same, just a case of reconnecting everything and swapping the clutch.

I was under the impression that all autos are EDC, which means it won't have a throttle cable. I'd be tempted to swap the injection pumps over. I'm sure there is a way to change an EDC to manual cable pump but I like the simpler approach of doing the entire pump swap.

Edit - make sure to fit a reinforced clutch arm while you're in there!

I was thinking it would be simplest to just swap the injector pump over.

Didn't know about the clutch arm, thanks!
