Hay guys, Anyone no if there is a gearbox upgrade for a manual 300 tdi disco? as you probably no, driving these on a motorway ext, there is the feeling that it could do with another gear, i.e an overdrive 6th gear or a upgrade gearbox. is there such things or only the standard gearbox?

no,:) i said you cant pull input gear out while still connected to gear box ,and check it from there you would have to drop sump plate off and try it from there

Put 'kin huge tyres on.
On mine 1st gear feels like 2nd gear and 5th is now like 6th.
I used to pull away in 2nd before anyway so by my reckoning I've got a nice long legged 6 speed box!:D

Not sure about the ratio's of the gearbox i have, but when im doing say 70mph the engin is touching close to 3k rpm id like to b lower realy as i do alot of motorway work :)

In a std TDi 300 you should be doing 2600rpm at 70mph. Something is not std.

What size tyres are you running? 235/70/16's?

Yeah just std 50/50 tired, the alloys are from a 200 Tdi, unow the factory 5 spoke alloys, Id say at 70mph its doing more like 2900rpm, definatly feels like it could use another gear lol, or somthing to bring the revs down a tad, i run it from Midlands in the uk to Poland and back a few week ago, was just under 2000 miles round trip and i got around 33-37 mpg running at speed limits, (82mph in most of the EU) :p witch im guessing isent to bad for a disco
