Hi. Stupid tyres question. Ready for **** taking.

Iv done some searching through previous/archive threads and cant seem to find anyone who's tried putting these on a standard defender.
4 x 285 75 16 Insa Turbo Special Track Tyres on 16" Steel Wheels Defender | eBay

Has anyone done it with these tyres, and also has anyone done it with boost alloys. i have a spare set of wheel spacers so could use them if needed.

im currently running 265/75/16 bfg mud with loads of space in the arches.

Id rather not lift it and quite happy to stay at 265 if they wont fit. but worth the ask.

:)

I run 275 and 265 on boost alloys and never had a issue

ive got 285 75 16on boost rims on my fender ,,only problem is u loose wheel lock ,,so i would recomend j8 mods or 50 mm spacers ,,i no some pepole dont like spacers due to the extra load on the bearings ,,but u should not have a problem if u fit timkin ones instead of the oes in a blue box lol ,,,,

this is only my opinion and i hope it helps :)

Have you any suspension lift / mods?

ive got all moded suspension ,,but you dont need it to fit them boots mate ,
all depends what you wont them for ?
i used to run insa turbo special tracks and found them noisey on tarmac ,and they used to rattle the sh.t out me truck ,,allso they are great in mud and deep snow ,but crap in sand and ice

They will rub when reaching for full articulation , 285 also need an 8" rim (tyre manufacturers rec) you will need to adjust lockstops (easy) so will loose a bit of maneuverability. better option 255/85 265/75 are lower geared than 750 or 235/85; 255/85 and 285/75 are taller JMHO&E

Hi, thanks for all the advice. Im gonna go with the 265 insa turbo and 30mm wheel spacers.
Have heard everyones advice and it sounds like my best bet.

Cant order until tomorrow so hoping to have it all fitted by mid - end of next week. I'll post pics when they are on.

Thanks muchley, Tom.

Special track are not great on the road, INSA SAHARA TURBOS are brilliant for an MT on the road and perform excellent off road, best MT for a budget going IMO
