Before anyone says check the hand book, thinking of changing the tyres before the winter as I have always been a sucker for good brand new tyres for peace of mind and the lasting longer bite as well, and if I can afford it on my poor pension some nice shinning alloys as well I now its an old banger as one of my new neighbours reminded me the other day but I just love it and whant to give it a treat. What tyres (pressure as well plz) and wheels do you recommend thanx...

I've just switched from the standard Wranglers to Yokohama Geolanders. I'm impressed with them so far. Good price, good grip, low noise and with a tread wear rating of 500 instead of 260 of the Wranglers should last well too. 30 psi for the tyre pressure should be about rite.

I was wandering about getting a set of Geolanders for the Freelander I'm thinking of buying since it seems to have 4 different makes fitted at present. What are they like on the road since that's where it will spend most of its life.

Geolanders are or were cheap on Black Circles, I suspect that they are trying to clear there stocks before they are banned by the EU next year.
They are as good on a dry road as the Wranglers mine was fitted with but the wet grip is loads better which has to be a good thing.
