Hi guys
Can anyone with Insa Turbo Special Track Tyres tell me what the ideal tyre pressure should be please for road use 265 x 75 x 16, basicly i have just had my 90 on the motorway for the first in ages after replacing all the suspension, new polly bushes fitted all round, new rear ball joint, all front ball joints replaced, and new 16 x 8 modular wheels and the 90 going down the slip road onto the motorway was all over the place doing about 50mph, i know i need to tweak the power steer box up a bit as there is a bit of play in it but think the tyres have only 25-30psi in them so thinking of pumping them up to 35-40psi, what do you think.

They are aggressive tyres for on-road use, and if they are new they will be stiffer than if they have been 'run in'.
I would suggest 28 in the front and 32 in the rear.
Even so, you are still likely to get a lot of noise, bounce and wander.

I have 235 x 85 x 16 General Grabber At's 2 and before that Trac edge. I find running with 28psi in the front and 46psi in the rear stopped mine wandering all over the road. Mine is a 110.

chalk mark across tyre - run it 100 yds - see which bit has rubbed off - adjust tyre pressure - repeat until chalk mark is removed uniformly across tread :)

I did the chalk test, thanks MHM, and adjusted to 30psi on the front and 48psi on the rear (I drive a 110). It took a while to find the right balance and what felt comfortable - not too squashy - or that the steering had been cut, it wandered terribly!

when I ran Simex(same tread pattern) and had to use a motorway, I pumped em up to around 35psi, because you want to run on the centre blocks, trying to save the lugs at the edges for airing down in the soft stuff.
But if you have play in the steering you need to remove that first as thats probably the main reason for the wandering

Yeah going to adjust the power steer box first then test it on the Mway ( on my door step ) then pump the tyres up and give it another Mway test hopefully that should do it :)

Sorted, after adjusting the power steer box and giving it a test on the M/way it was still swaying but no more play in the steering but as it was raining i couldn't do the chalk test so first i pumped up the front tyres from 25 psi to 30 psi and pumped up the rear tyres up from 25 psi to 35 psi and it was a lot better on the M/way but still a slight bit of sway so later i pumped the rear tyres up to 40 psi and left the fronts took it for another run up the M/way and it was still the same so came back allowed the tyres to cool off then lowered the rear tyres back to 35 psi and pumped the front tyres up to 35 psi and its like driving a different car well chuffed.
so for long M/way runs for me its 35 psi all round, cheer's guys ;):D
