tyre (over)inflation

hi everyone,

i recently topped up my tyres to the reccommended PSI but they look almost flat. how much further can i inflate them, and does having almost flat tyres provide much benefit other than giving more grip anyway?

any answers would be much appreciated, ive looked around but can't find much online

P.S mine's a 90 swb

If its of much benefit it will increase fuel consumption, thus costing more. It will also cause uneven tyre wear

Well as its Sunday I've given my psychic powers a day off and as such I can't tell what size your tyres are. Ask me again tommorow, ill even be in work then and ill have my crystal ball to hand as well.

hahaha sorry, let me cross your palm with silver. they're regular 205/r16s, i have two AT kingpins at the back and more roady tyres at the front

what is the tyre manfacture, size etc. need the info and what is the psi you put in. Are you using a tyre pressure gauge or just the visual guide?

i use a tyre pressure gauge (old style one like a pen) and the gauge on the compressor but i think that's a bit inaccurate. 1.9 bar front 2.4 bar rear

rear tyres are kingpin pathfinder remoulds and fronts are toyo "open country"

About 34 psi is what I'd suggest. I use that for most tyres and have never had issues.

I've 265 and put 35 psi in front and rear.....nice ride

I've Hankook 33x12.5r15 Muds and 35psi seems to work fine on them.

Be aware that some tyres can tend to balloon up when driving on the motorway too at high speeds for long distances so don't inflate them too much.

Doesn't matter what tyres I have on, they are always run at 28psi front and 32psi rear

Never had any problems at all and they last a bit longer than running with higher pressures

I'm running 255/55/16 and got them at 28 front 38 rear. That's the pressures that kept coming up when I'd searched though I'm not overly happy with it if I'm honest

For what its worth I run 45p.s.i. Rear and 35p.s.i. Front, 235/85R16's, 110 300Tdi CSW, got those figures off here somewhere, and never have a problem
