Hi All,

I've read through various threads on here and on other sites (thanks Google), but I keep getting quite significantly difference answers!

What's the correct tyre pressure to use?

I've just fitted a full set of General Grabber AT3's and want to make sure they last as well as they can (gotta make 'em last at that price!!!).

Wheels fitted are 8J18 and tyres are 255/55/18 XL

(following are under standard load):
My tyre fitters put 38psi all round. I've looked at various tyre websites online and they seem to recommend 33psi all round, my handbook says 30 front and 38 rear, posts on here seem to show a different handbook page and show 28 front and 38 rear.

Can't say I've ever found this much variation over what the "guide" pressures are with any other vehicle I've ever owned (and I've had a fair few).

I've currently changed from the 38 all round tyre fitters put to 33 all round that's suggested on-line but not sure I shouldn't be going back to 38 on the rear as it does look low. Car has rear air suspension but not ACE and is factory standard setup. I carry a small amount of tools / gear on mantec upper rear shelf and dog guard & bed, car usually has just me or me and the dog in it (occasionally I let the children and the missus in too - but I usually need to clean it afterwards to I try to keep the "family" stuff to her car ;)).

Car is a 2004 facelift TD5 manual.

What do others run at and how much does it really effect wear, handling, economy, etc.?

I run the owners manual recommendations. which is available in the Rave folders.

The difference between 28 and 30 for the front is down to change in what was written in the owners manual. 01 MY shows as 28 PSI, 03 MY shows as 30.

Both show 38 fro the rears for a normal load or 46 PSI for max load.

Not sure where you have read 33 all round , that seems low for the back pressures.

Cheers
