Tyre choice

The 225/55/17 Yokohama Geolanders fitted to the Freelander are at the end of their life after 30 K miles and 5 years . I'd fit these again but cannot find a UK/Irish supplier so I'm off into the WWW to try and find a suitable replacement .
For My wifes car which is used only on road and never above 60mph ( due to the roads down here in SW Ireland ) .
I've got Kuhmo's fitted to my car ( MV6 Omega ) and am very satisfied with their performance . I've found these and wondered if any one has any experience with them.

Failing that any suggestions from experience re a suitable mid range brand ?

I had Pirelli Scorpions on it before but found they had deteriorated to a point that they were disintigrating inside after about 10K miles and they were very noisy whereas the Geolanders have been superb in all areas.

Currently running the original Michelin Synchone's in that size (no-longer available) but when they finally wear out I think I will replace them with a full set of Michelin Lattitude's. Not too bad at £130 each (fitted & balanced) and if they last as long as the originals then they will be exceptional value.

My tyres are slightly different 215 65 r16, but I've tried these,

Michelins that came factory fitted, hard wearing lasted 47,000 miles, good in mud and green laning, very poor in rain so got rid cos it's wet up here.

Goodyear Wrangler AP, excellent grip in all situations, braking fantastic, only lasted 20,000 miles and cost quite a bit so woudn't use them again.

Currently using Continental 4x4, not very good at all except at motorway speed where they are quiet. But slip quite a bit in the wet and I pull a caravan so this is no good. Plus took the freelander for it's MOT this morning and he said the will need replacing shortly and they've only done 17,000 miles

I always replace all four tyres together then you can't damage the drive train.

Have used bf's on other cars and they are always good and long lasting.

As for Khumo's, got them on the Matiz and the caravan. Like them alot but never tried them on a 4x4.

I'm also open to other suggestions.

I have two sets of 5 rims with the Michelin Synchrones 215 65 R16. Going to make one set of it for the next year.
Now the Freelander is wearing winter tyres Michelin Latitude Alpin. I like both of the Michelins types for motorway and also for greenlaning. Maybe you find useful information on a website: tyretestdotcom

Hi all.
Have you guys tried to replace the 235/50 R18 tyre of a Freelander 1 (2005 2.5 V6) with a higher sidewall tyre? Mine got a bubble when off-roading. A 235/60 R18 tyre would be more resistant to impact, but I am not sure it will fit the car. Any thoughts on this? Well, at the moment I am not willing to exchange the wheels for a 16” or 17” rim.

I'm having a new set of boots put on today. I like the Goodyear WRANGLER HP (ALL WEATHER) 215/65/R16 98S. Had them on last time and got 50k out of them. Very even wear and good all round performance (even in the snow). So it's a set of Wranglers all round.

The previous owner had Nexen tyres fitted and they where awful, high road noise, no bite to them. Always pay a bit more for good tyres.

I've done exactly the same as Jodsclass, same new tyres and old tyres. Really impressed and give reasonable grip off road too.

Nexen were not quiet tyres!

I have a set of Hankook on my sport (235/50/18) and no worries as yet. I read a lot of reviews and the Kumho brand got mixed ratings. They have your tyre size for Hankook here
